Jaime Montoya

Programmer

I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on July 16th, 1986. I am currently working as a programmer and professor at Cupón Club and Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (School of Economics and Business), respectively. I am an active participant in Stack Overflow, a community where I learn and contribute, sometimes even by answering my own questions in order to document and share solutions to programming problems that I face. My education and work experience have always been heavily oriented to technical fields, particularly programming. I plan to continue working as a programmer I hope for the rest of my life!

I am a big fan of Safari Books Online, the world's most comprehensive technology learning platform. The immense catalog of high quality books that they include for programmers is impressive and I definitely recommend it for high-technology students and professionals, including programmers of course. I recognize that I am biased in favor of encouraging more people to become programmers in order to improve life and use those skills to find solutions to the most complex problems we face today. Yes, software and programming algorithms are extremely powerful! I want to be a soldier in the army of programmers to achieve new victories in the ongoing revolution that started long ago, when Ada Lovelace, widely known as the first programmer, became a writer, author and creator using an unconventional language that was born to live forever and change the world: code written by programmers.

What I consider as one of my major achievements was when in one of my job contracts, my job title was: "Programmer". I know that for some people being an astronaut or rocket scientist may be one of the most prestigious job titles, but for me, becoming a programmer was my dream and if I had to start my life again, I would choose the same profession without hesitating one moment because I consider it number one.
